NB: from Simply Tobago. The FO
advisory does sound alarming and unfortunately for Tobago it
can get tarred with the same brush as Trinidad, which does
suffer a much higher crime rate. You should note that the
kidnappings referred to in the FO's top paragraphs are regular
occurrences in Trinidad and not Tobago, which is a separate
island and of a totally different character to Trinidad.

The island
is small and the people are proud and respectful, and law
abiding. Do take heed from the FO's advice, but do not think
that Tobago is crime ridden and a dangerous place for all to
visit. We have travelled there many times as single women and
felt perfectly safe on every trip.
