*** Great family villa ***   

This is a lovely villa, personally owned by a British couple so containing many extras, set in a tranquil spot, with beaches and restaurants close by. The famous Pigeon Point beach is just a only 5 minute cycle ride away and  the local supermarket, a 10 minute drive, with many good restaurants within walking distance.

Yellow Bird is part of a small development of similar villas between the main road and the Bon Accord Lagoon, which is a government protected ‘nature’ reserve. The rear garden, containing the swimming pool, backs onto the Mangroves lining the Lagoon. The villa is ideally located in a quiet private road to ensure your holiday is a peaceful and relaxing.

The villa  has  3 double bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms, air-conditioning and ceiling fans. The master bedroom has a king size double, the other two have twin beds. In the space between the 2 bedrooms on the first floor, there are  2 futons in an area served by a/c and a fan.

Downstairs there is a large open plan living room and the kitchen is well equipped with cooker, dishwasher, microwave, etc. The living room has a small cable TV (there is a large TV upstairs) and a stereo/ CD player with plenty of comfortable seating. Off this, in the under-croft, is the dining table for 8 people, together with a gas BBQ. There is a washing machine and tumble dyer in the laundry room.

Outside by the pool there is another table and chairs with a large sun umbrella for al fresco dining. The Jacuzzi and swimming pool are cared for by pool attendants 3 times a week. Children are catered for with high chair, Graco cot and their own crockery, at no extra cost .The villa has a very secluded garden with total privacy, over looking the mangroves and you can watch the birds easily from the veranda or first floor balcony. There is a great deal of wildlife in the garden as humming birds, woodpeckers and fruit bats all enjoy the feeders we have placed in the trees.

The villa is less than a 10 minute taxi drive from the airport. Alternatively the owners can arrange for you to be met at the airport with a hire car for your holiday and escort guide straight to the villa.

The price range is from £135 ( about US$ 270 ) per night for the villa, and includes local taxes, housekeeping, and the use of 4 adult bicycles. 

During Christmas and Easter the price is £175 ( about US$350 ) per night for the villa.

Petit Careme Villa, Mount Irvine

  

Petit Careme sits in one of the loveliest locations on the island – set back from a coconut grove and beautiful manicured green of a golf course, with the Caribbean Sea sparkling through the palm trees. 
The villa is in a small gated community set amongst mature tropical trees and gardens. It can be hired as either an apartment or as a whole. It’s beautifully laid out and furnished – local woods like teak and mahogany have been used, and it has its own heated splash pool as well as access to a large swimming pool. Cable TV & stereo is provided.

From upstairs you can enjoy stunning sunsets and view all our tropical birds at close range, you can sun bathe privately or entertain with a delightful barbecue under the stars. The villa can comfortably accommodate six adults along with children. The master bedroom has a king size bed, there are also two double beds, and a queen size bed in the upper bedrooms. All the bedrooms are en suite. Cooling fans and air conditioning are fitted throughout.

The villa is child friendly supplying a crib, play pen, high chair, and a portable barrier for a child's safety. Daily housekeeping is provided, and for a nominal fee baby sitting and a cook are available. Airport pick up is available. 

On the ground level there is a self-contained, air conditioned apartment comprising large bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, and living room with stereo.  The bathroom is large enough to accommodate physically challenged people, being on the ground floor a wheel chair can easily move about the apartment and at the same time enjoy the pool and grounds with ease. All at the same level.
If you wish to rent just the upper part of the villa, the lower part will not be hired out – ensuring your complete privacy.

Mount Irvine is a beautiful area, with one of Tobago’s prettiest beaches nearby, along with plenty of good restaurants and bars. Watersports, rainforest and bird watching trips are also close by. 10% discount on green fees at nearby Mount Irvine golf course  is available.

Fisherman's Lodge, Castara

  

Originally a fisherman’s shack, this unique building is superbly located with sweeping views of sparkling Castara Bay below, and the rainforest edge as a backdrop.  Its elevation means not just great views and privacy, but the benefit of a cooling breeze to ease the tropical heat.  You can relax each evening looking out on a stunning sunset over the Caribbean Sea whilst sipping a cold beer.    

The lodge has been sensitively renovated to a high standard, whilst retaining the building’s unique Caribbean character with weatherboard exterior and fretwork trim. It’s built from Red Cedar, a hardwood cut from the rainforest some 20-30 years ago – with the hand planing and saw markings still visible. The cedar floorboards have been sanded and varnished. Inside, the old boarding has been painted so it’s fresh and clean. The lodge is well equipped, with small details attended to such as a hair dryer and hammock.

Fisherman’s Lodge has been revived by the Castara Retreats team – with the emphasis on simplicity but high quality, and in harmony with the landscape and culture of Tobago. It has recently been extended, doubling the 400 sq ft floor space to 800 sq ft' The owners employ local people and use indigenous Tobago materials, and have used local yellow cypress to enhance this already charming and romantic accommodation. A bedroom -  14ft by 14ft - has been created with wonderful views of the ocean to the North East, and refreshed by the breeze off the rainforest to the East. It has a polished hardwood floor, similar to Rainforest, and a queen sized bed with white bed linen and frame mosquito net. In addition, the existing porch, by which you enter Fisherman’s, is extended into a spacious living/deck area that looks west, to enjoy the sunsets, fire flies and stars at night.

The present bedroom/living area (20 ft by 20 ft) opens out to the same ocean views as the new bedroom, and there is a small shower room and toilet and an L-shaped kitchen to the side of the living space which has been opened up to allow free movement of air and uninterrupted views. People who have stayed in Fisherman’s have been fulsome in their appreciation of both its location and its intimacy. It is ideal for a couple.

The lodge would make an unforgettably romantic honeymoon.

Sunset Valley Estate, near Englishman's Bay

  

This is an amazing place to stay. Just up a track from the famous - and empty - Englishman's Bay, this house has 180 degree views of the Caribbean on one side, and the rainforest on the other. If you want to get away from it, this is it. Lovely private pool, loads of space, big wrap around verandah with hammocks to enjoy the world passing by. 

American Donna has lived in Tobago for years and is also in the house to look after you if you want. A great cook, you should try her banana bread. The photos don't do it justice, and the price is more than value for money.
